Anybody out there that has done freshwater fishing on Long Island?

Question: I need some help with freshwater fishing on the island, preferably Suffolk County... like where are good places(that aren't private or restricted), what bait or lures to use, what's the best time(of the year) to fish, is it a good idea to fish at night... I am fishing either bobber-style or for bigger fish with artificial lures... Um how would i be crazy when they sell a freshwater license and i see people fishing on lakes all the time... you act as if i am the only one freshwater fishing... i am doing it from the shore mainly....

Answer: freshwater fishing on li can be great. I have largemouths over 10 lbs a 6lb smally[ on shelter island] trout to 13 lbs [connetquott]3 lb crappie, 3 lb yellow perch, the list goes on.there are tons of spots, but if you see lots of people dont stop. You'll be better off finding a quieter place that isnt do popular[ less fishing pressure].A few good spots are the mill pond in patchouge, the peconic river has a lot of acces sites, if theres a golf course with decent ponds on it near you it would be worth checking out . the ten pounder i got came from one, I dont know if you can im me but if you can i'll try to help more.I just dont know if my page is set up.I'm a better fisherman than techno man
