What conversations do you have with someone when you go to a restaurant?

Question: I'm writing an article in a magazine about different conversations that people have had in the past and present. Such as political, world news, local news, births, deaths and funny things that have happened to you while in a restaurant or especially if you or a waiter of waitress, I want your stories please!

Answer: gossip, talk abt foods that other ppl ordered, wait persons attitude, service standard, what going to do after meal, blaaa. bla... There was once at 5* jap restaurant in sydney when my fiancee (Jap) ordering abalone sashimi. The price on the list was $15 per 100gm. We asked how much ($) approx. for 1 abalone. The waitress said she need to check with the chef. After awhile she came back and told us that it is 200. We ordered and we got to choose 2 styles of cooking, sashimi and another style. While the chef was cooking, we started to wonder how big the abalone is costing us $200. Maybe it has heavy shell thats why its >1kg? How can we finish 500gm sashimi?? bla.. bla.. When the dish was served, both of us laughed, 4 thin slices sashimi and another 4 thin slices grilled with salt. It was 200gm small abalone!
